HPCC president Pratibha Singh said today that the Congress chargesheet against the BJP government would contain “serious charges with documentary evidence”.
She said that the Congress was preparing a chargesheet to highlight the serious acts of omission and commission during the BJP rule. The Chief Minister had said last week that he did not believe in “vendetta politics” and so he did not get investigated the charges levelled in the chargesheet prepared by the BJP against the previous Virbhadra Singh government.
Video chargesheet against Virbhadra govt
- The BJP had released a video chargesheet against the Virbhadra Singh government at Bilaspur on October 1, 2017
- It showed voters posing questions to 36 Congress MLAs, including the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues
- The top brass of the state BJP, led by Leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, had prepared the chargesheet focusing on governance failure and unfulfilled promises
- The chargesheet — ‘Vidhayak Ji Jawab Do’ and ‘Main Hoon Himachal’ — was part of the BJP’s campaign, ‘Hisab Mange Himachal’, against the Congress
- The BJP had prepared chargesheets in 2013 and 2014 as well
She said, “Let me make it clear that the Congress will not bring a document having fictitious and frivolous charges. The Congress, too, does not believe in witch hunting but there are serious lapses that cannot be overlooked”.
She added, “The Congress chargesheet against the government will be ready shortly. The party has received several complaints of corruption and irregularities from across the state.”
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had warned the Congress to desist from framing a chargesheet against his government or he would get charges against some of its leaders probed by state agencies or even the CBI and also FIRs would be registered against them.
Both BJP and Congress had prepared chargesheets against each other in the past two decades. In fact, the Congress government had in 2012 acted on the chargesheet it had submitted in 2009 against the Prem Kumar Dhumal government and MP Anurag Thakur. In fact, Anurag faced several Vigilance cases regarding the construction of the cricket stadium at Dharamsala.
