Class X Baddi student who took poison dies at PGI
Was allegedly in distress after being ‘reprimanded’ by teacher
A Class X student, who was admitted to PGIMER, Chandigarh, after she consumed a poisonous substance, died this evening.
She was studying at Government Senior Secondary School at Sai in Baddi. She was allegedly in distress after being reprimanded by a teacher, prompting her to take the extreme step.
The police have begun inquiry into the case, although her parents are yet to give their statement.
The girl was admitted at a local hospital on November 28 after she consumed a poisonous substance. After her condition deteriorated, she was referred to PGI in Chandigarh on November 30.
Baddi ASP Ashok Verma said they had received information that a schoolgirl had consumed poison from the Chandigarh hospital on Monday. She was found unfit for recording her statement and died on Tuesday. Her parents, who were in shock, have not given any statement either. Meanwhile, the police began inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the BNS, said the Additional SP.
