People belonging to various sections of society participated in a community cleanliness drive on the theme “Our Mountains, Our Responsibility” organised at the Ghatta Point near Baijnath on Friday. The aim of the initiative was to promote environmental awareness and reinforce the collective responsibility of citizens towards preserving the fragile mountain ecosystem.
SDM, Baijnath, Sankalp Gautam also took part in the campaign and his presence and participation boosted the morale of the volunteers and underscored the administration’s commitment to environmental conservation.
Members of Waste Warriors and the Shiv Temple Trust, representatives of the Tibetan community and retired servicemen joined hands to clean the area. The volunteers collected and segregated waste, removed plastic and other litter from the surroundings to restore the natural beauty of the site. The drive reflected a strong spirit of community cooperation and civic responsibility.
The SDM said that a clean environment was essential not only for public health but also as legacy for future generations. “Maintaining cleanliness is not a one-day activity but a continuous process that requires the active participation of every citizen,” he added. He urged residents and visitors alike to dispose of waste only at designated locations and actively support similar initiatives in the future.
Adequate safety arrangements were made during the campaign and the volunteers provided necessary protective equipment to ensure their well-being while handling waste. The event concluded with a renewed pledge by the participants to safeguard the natural heritage of the region and continue working collectively towards a cleaner and greener Baijnath.
