Cloudburst in Spiti, houses, crop damaged

MANDI: Large tract of agriculture land was reportedly washed away after cloudburst near Sichling village in tribal district Lahaul Spiti on Sunday night.

Large tract of agriculture land was reportedly washed away after cloudburst near Sichling village in tribal district Lahaul Spiti on Sunday night. The flood water entered into houses and standing crop was damaged.

Confirming the reports, Sub Divisional Magistrate Keylong said the cloudburst was reported in the hills of Dhankhar near Sichling village in the Spiti valley. The flood water washed away vast tract of agriculture and forest land. However, no loss of life was reported.

He said the administration was assessing the loss and compensation would be provided to the affected people.

Similarly, in Kullu district flash flood was reported in Manikaran valley in Jagrai nullah, which washed away a foot bridge at Pulga village.
