Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is encouraging natural farming to boost the income of farmers and orchardists in the state, said Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur while addressing a farmers’ meeting organised by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in Jasai village of the Nadaun Assembly constituency, near here, today. She highlighted the state government’s initiatives for strengthening the rural economy alongside health and education priorities, with special promotion of natural farming. Kamlesh said, “Himachal Pradesh is the first state in India to set the Minimum Support Price for crops grown through natural farming techniques. There has been a record hike in milk price.” She urged farmers to embrace natural farming for producing pure foodgrains and increasing their income and improving nutrition. The MLA said that the government had adopted the CBSE curriculum in several schools in the state, enabling children from poor families to access quality education locally. She added that development in the Nadaun Assembly constituency of Hamirpur district was reaching new heights and this all happened due to public support for the Chief Minister.” Kamlesh distributed quality vegetable seeds to farmers on the occasion. Ajay Sharma, Chairman of the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), detailed about various government schemes initiated for the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
