CM Jai Ram Thakur met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today.
He raised the issue of speeding up construction work of various pending road projects, including Parwanoo-Solan NH, Ner Chowk-Pandoh, Kiratpur Sahab-Ner Chowk besides early awarding of projects, including Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh, four laning of Mataur-Shimla NH-88 Pathankot-Mandi NH-20.
He also took up the matter of general repair, maintenance and restoration of all national highways entrusted to NHAI. He also sought Rs 500 crore for implementation of ropeway projects in the state.
He also requested to expedite approval for construction of bus stands on PPP mode and added that reports have been submitted to the ministry after visiting locations at Manali, Hamirpur and Baddi. He told the minister that the Institute of Driving and Research was nearing completion and sought remaining funds so that the project could be completed soon.
Gadkari directed officers to resolve all issues and asked the officers to complete four-laning of Parwanoo-Solan NH by March and restart work on Shimla-Dhalli bypass within a week. He asked the CM to deliberate upon four laning of Mataur-Shimla NH-88 at local level and convey the decision to Centre so that it can be resolved soon. He also accepted the request of opening of office of Regional Pay and Accounts Office of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at Shimla.
