Mandi, November 9

Congress workers led by Rajni Patil, in-charge of party affairs in Himachal, staged a protest against the Central Government over inflation here today.

Patil was accompanied by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and various local leaders. She said that during the BJP regime, the prices of essential commodities had increased drastically. Also, unemployment was growing, which is a matter of concern.

She said that the decision of the Central Government to withdraw the SPG security of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi was unacceptable. The Gandhi family had lost its two members — former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi — for the sake of the nation.

The leaders should be given security in view of a serious threat to their lives.

Agnihotri targeted the state government over the investors’ meet held in Dharamsala. He said that the Chief Minister failed to get a special industrial package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the meet. He said that the development of the state had come to a standstill and unemployment was rising. The state’s debt has increased to Rs60,000 crore.
