Mandi, August 6
Sanjay Dutt, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Congress affairs in Himachal, today said that the poll manifesto of the party would be based on people-centric issues. He chaired a meeting with party workers in Mandi to review preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Dutt, while addressing mediapersons here, said, “All sections of society have suffered due to the policies of the BJP governments in Himachal and at the Centre. Apple growers in the state are protesting against the wrong policies of the government. Subsidies on fertilisers and pesticides in the horticulture and agriculture sectors have been discontinued, directly affecting poor farmers.”
He said, “The state and Central governments have failed to create jobs for the youth. The Central Government has also failed to check inflation. An LPG cylinder now costs over Rs 1,100. Similarly, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been levied on essential commodities such as milk, curd, cheese, flour and rice.”
He said that the Congress would raise all these issues with the state and Central governments in the coming days.
He alleged that the Central government was misusing investigative agencies such as the ED and the CBI to harass its political opponents.
The Congress would fight back. “The people of the state have made up their mind to oust the BJP from power in Himachal,” he added.
He said, on August 17, a Rojgar Sangharsh rally would be held in Mandi to apprise the youth about the failure of the government to create jobs.
