Palampur, July 3

Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the Opposition, said here today that the Congress would implement the old pension scheme (OPS) and regularise the outsourced employees, if it was voted to power in the state.

He said the Congress would discontinue the outsourced appointments to eliminate the presence of middlemen so that government money was not misused.

Despite promises made in its manifesto to provide jobs to the youth, nothing has been done by the BJP. The government has adopted the pick and choose policy in giving jobs and candidates only from two constituencies, Dharampur and Seraj represented by the CM and his Cabinet colleague, are given jobs. — Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the opposition

Addressing newspersons here this morning, Agnihotri said the BJP government led by Jai Ram Thakur had failed on all fronts. The law and order situation had moved from bad to worse and conditions of internal roads were deplorable and most of the health institutions had no doctors and paramedical staff.

He said despite promises made in its manifesto to provide employment to the youth, nothing had been done. Rather the government adopted the policy of pick and choose in giving jobs and candidates only from two constituencies, Dharampur and Seraj represented by CM and his Cabinet colleague, were given jobs.

He said the CM must make public a list of persons given jobs in each constituency. He said no rules were followed while making new appointments.

He regretted that in the absence of political and administrative will, most of the Centrally sponsored projects failed to take off in the state. He said the stone for two four-lane projects, Pathankot-Mandi and Kangra-Shimla, were laid by the Union Minister of Surface and Transport Nitin Gadkari in 2017, but the state government had failed to acquire the land. Likewise, the government had also failed to acquire land for the expansion of Gaggal and Kullu airports.
