A case of attempted murder was registered in police station following a hit-and-run incident here today.

It is learnt that the police team led by Inspector Kulwant Singh, SHO of Hamirpur Sadar, intercepted a vehicle suspected of drug- trafficking. The driver allegedly tried to ram his car onto the police vehicle in a bid to flee, prompting a rapid response from officers who had set up a check post near Dugnedi village. The driver, while fleeing, drove rashly, injuring SHO. The SHO fired two bullets with his service weapon but the accused fled.

The car was found parked about two km away. Two persons have been apprehended while the driver is absconding. The driver has been identified as Rashik Kumar of Lahaldhi, near here.

The injured SHO was taken to medical college for treatment.

A team of forensic experts arrived on the spot to collect evidence and investigate the incident.
