Shimla, November 28

A large number of police personnel reached Oakover, the official residence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, to air their grievances today.

The cops were disappointed over the deliberations held at the meeting of Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of NGO Federation yesterday and lamented that their case for higher pay scales was not properly put up.

The personnel demanded a pay band of Rs 10,300 and complained that in 2013, constables were getting pay band after two years but as per the new policy introduced in 2015, the period had been extended to eight years. About 5,700 constables were adversely affected by the decision. As a protest, the police mess was closed in the state today.

The Chief Minister assured the policemen that the government would look into their demands. — TNS
