Thirty new coronavirus cases tool Solan’s district tally to 852, officials said on Monday.

The figure included 16 people who tested positive in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh(BBN) industrial belt. Two pregnant women and a policeman were among the new cases. Five cases were reported from Arki including an inter-state traveller and 4 direct contacts of earlier cases. The policeman who tested positive was a direct contact of a previously diagnosed case.

Parwanoo reported six cases---two contacts, a pregnant woman and two people who were classified as ILI (influenza like illness). Five of BBN’s 16 cases were from Nalagarh and 11 from Baddi. A pregnant woman was among the new patients, Solan’s Medical Officer Dr NK Gupta.

Simaur reported five new cases, taking the district toll to 423.  Ponta Sahib’s DSP and the commandant of IRB 4th Batallion, Jungleberi, were among those who tested positive. They were contacts of Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary, who have tested positive in Paonta Sahib a few days ago.

The office of Ponta Sahib DSP was sealed on Saturday after the minister’s report came in, and the staff has since been kept in isolation.

Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner RK Pruthi said besides them, three others have tested positive---a 24-year-old woman from Ponta Sahib's Majra, and two men from Gorkhuwala and Majra areas.
