The surge in Covid cases continued unabated with 412 persons testing positive for the virus in the state today, taking the tally to 10,335. The highest eight deaths in one day were also reported.

The highest number of 121 cases were reported in Mandi, followed by 84 in Solan, 60 in Sirmaur, 44 in Shimla, 35 in Una, 32 in Kangra, 16 in Bilaspur, eight in Hamirpur, seven in Kullu and five in Chamba.

3 succumb in Mandi

Three patients died at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital at Nerchowk in Mandi due to Covid -19 infection.

Senior Medical Superintendent of medical college said Lela Prakash (49), a native of Killing village in Mandi, succumbed to Covid. He said two patients died yesterday. “The deceased were identified as Shakuntala Devi (65) of Bhoranj in Hamirpur and Jeevan Sen of Talyar, Mandi,” he said.

3 fatalities in Kangra

One more person succumbed to Covid in Kangra today. The third victim was a 65-year-old woman of Ghar Bhatiyat in Nurpur area. She was admitted with fever to civil hospital on September 14. She tested positive for Covid. She expired in the afternoon.

Earlier, two persons succumbed to Covid in Tanda medical college today.

Those who died were a 53-year-old person, a resident of Sujjanpur in district Hamirpur. Referred from Civil hospital Sujjanpur, he was admitted to Tanda medical college on September 24. He expired today. The other fatality was of a 71-year-old person, a resident of district Una, who was admitted to Tanda medical college on September 12 with severe respiratory disorder.

Big surge in Solan

Eightyfour persons were detected positive in Solan today. Six bank employees, including five from SBI Solan and one from PNB Parwanoo, four policemen from Parwanoo and a medical officer from primary health centre, Pratha in Solan, were among those who tested positive. Three pregnant women also tested positive.

One death in Shimla

One person from Nalagarh , who had tested positive on September 13 and was referred to IGMC, Shimla, with breathing problem, died last night.

60 cases in Sirmaur

Sixty cases were detected in Sirmaur district on Tuesday. These included 43 from Paonta Sahib, and 17 from Nahan.
