Damtal resident gets gets 1-year jail for drug peddling

The SP said he had been convicted in two cases earlier

Indora Judicial Magistrate First Class Sanjiv Kumar has convicted Prince, a resident of Damtal in Nurpur police district, in a drug-peddling case and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment. The accused has also been fined Rs 10,000.

He was arrested by the Indora police after the recovery of 3.90-gm ‘chitta’ (heroin) from his possession in 2016. The trial in the NDPS Act case lasted for around 10 years. According to Nurpur SP Kulbhushan Verma, the convict is a habitual offender and 13 FIRs have been registered against for different crimes .

The SP said earlier he had been convicted in two cases. “Five cases under the NDPS Act, three each of theft and illicit liquor smuggling and two of thrashing have been registered against him,” the SP added.
