DC calls for action at panchayat level to make Shimla drug-free
Directs all SDMs to constitute committees in areas which have been left out
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap directed officials to hold meetings with other stakeholders, especially at the panchayat level, to make the district free from drugs at a monthly district-level NCORD meeting here. He also directed all SDMs to constitute committees in areas which had been left out.
The DC said that the NCORD committee strived to control the drug problem at both social and legal levels. “This committee works towards making the district drug-free with the cooperation of the administration and society. Through this, efforts are not only made to reduce crime but also to inspire the youth to live a safe and healthy life,” he added.
He said that the committee reviewed the drug situation in the district and issued directions for necessary action. “The objectives of the NCORD committee primarily include monitoring drug trafficking, intensifying action against drug dealers, spreading awareness among the youth and strengthening rehabilitation and treatment facilities for drug cessation.
