Death toll in Chamba mishap reaches 3

CHAMBA: The death toll in the Luna bus mishap has reached three, with one more passenger succumbing to his injuries on the way to Tanda medical college.

The death toll in the Luna bus mishap has reached three, with one more passenger succumbing to his injuries on the way to Tanda medical college. Chamba SP Dr Monika Bhutungru said the deceased had been identified as Chatro Ram (82), a resident of Niyangal village in Jawali tehsil of Kangra district.

The 42-seater private bus (HP-68-8555) was overloaded and carrying 65 passengers, including driver Kaku Ram and conductor Ramesh Kumar, the SP said.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Chamba Hemraj Bairwa said the injured were undergoing treatment in local hospitals.

A committee, headed by Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM), Chamba, had been constituted to probe the incident, he added.
