The slump in industrial production and the economy in the country was due to the wrong implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation and not because of the previous Congress government in the state, said Prem Kaushal, HPCC spokesperson, here today.
Kaushal refuted the allegation levelled by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur that industries were migrating due to the “poor” policies of the previous Virbhadra Singh-led government when Mukesh Agnihotri was Industries Minister. He said that hundreds of industrial units had shut down in Gujarat, which is ruled by the BJP.
He said that before the next investors’ meet, the Chief Minister should come out with a white paper on the investments made by investors who had signed memorandums of understanding in such events earlier. He added that the BJP government was engaged in a spree of organising investors’ meets “to sell the interests of the state”.
Kaushal said, “Himachal has the most inexperienced Chief Minister who has legitimised election campaigning by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajiv Bindal. In such a situation, how one can expect fair practices by the Speaker during Assembly sessions”. He added that the BJP was misusing the government machinery and violating the model code of conduct to ensure victory in the by-elections.
