To check the rising cases of dengue in Rampur and surrounding areas, Block Medical Officer Dr R.K. Negi has launched a special awareness campaign in Rampur. The Health Department has formed teams to educate children in all educational institutions on the prevention of dengue. Dr Negi today conducted awareness sessions at Padma Senior Secondary School and Government Senior Secondary School (Girls) in Rampur. He said children had a strong ability to understand and can effectively spread awareness on dengue prevention among their families and community. As part of the campaign, Health Educator of Rampur Block, Subhash Chandra, addressed students and teachers at Sai Vidya Public School, Sunshine Public School and Springdale Public School, Rampur, on dengue and its prevention.

He said dengue was transmitted by the bite of an infected female Aedes aegypti mosquito, which was more prevalent during the rainy season. Dengue leads to a decrease in blood platelet count and causes high fever. Other symptoms include rashes on the body, vomiting, diarrhoea, nasal bleeding and blood in the cough and stool.
