The Joint Action Committee of the Medical Officers Association condemned Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Health Minister of Punjab, and demanded immediate action against the minister for his misconduct.

Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Faridkot district, submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister’s office late on Friday night hours after the Health Minister reportedly asked him to lie on a dirty mattress in front of the staff and patients in the hospital during an inspection.

Two other doctors had also put in their papers, requesting that they should be relieved of their responsibilities as principal-director and medical superintendent.

Dr Pushpinder Verma said the committee had demanded public apology from the minister. Dr Mukul Bhatnagar, president of the Medical Teachers Association at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital, said the act was uncalled for. The minister should tender apology for his act.

Rajinder Rana, working president of the HPCC, said Dr Raj Bahadur is the pride of Himachal Pradesh and is doctor of the international fame. The minister must be removed. The act had exposed the real face of AAP.
