Farmers of 19 states attend mushroom fair

The ICAR-Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR), Solan, organised a mushroom fair on its campus on Monday to commemorate the declaration of Solan as the Mushroom City in 1997.

More than 1,200 farmers from 19 states, including Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and students from various universities also attended the fair.

It was aimed at disseminating the technology, developed by the directorate, through practical demonstration and to resolve the problems faced by mushroom growers. An exhibition, showcasing the requisite equipment and machinery, was also put up.

A live demonstration on spawn production, mushroom cultivation and post harvest product development and cultivation technology of mushroom was also undertaken.— TNS
