Finish NH works on priority: MP to officials

Kangra MP Kishan Kapoor has issued instructions to officials to take up works related to the upgrade of Chakki-Banikhet-Chamba Bharmour National Highway (NH) on priority. He was presiding over a virtual meeting of the District Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner DC Rana said an action plan was being prepared for constructing flyovers and bypasses at Banikhet and Sultanpur townships falling under the national highway in view of traffic congestion.

Keeping in view the need to expand the network of national highways in the district, the DC also proposed an action plan under the Tissa and Salooni subdivisions.

PWD Superintending Engineer Diwakar Pathania informed the MP that 244 road projects had been completed by November 20 under the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, while 109 roads were in progress; besides two road projects would be started in Pangi subdivision soon.

Jal Shakti Department Superintendent Engineer Rohit Dubey informed that 40,185 houses had been provided drinking water facility out of 1,22,945 identified houses in the district till April last. During the current financial year, the availability of drinking water in 19,212 households would be ensured.

MLAs Vikram Singh Jaryal and Pawan Nayyar also attended the meeting in which the progress of 37 schemes under 22 departments was reviewed.
