Nahan, August 30

The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau caught red-handed Ashwani Kumar Verma, Divisional Manager of the Himachal Pradesh State Forest Corporation Limited, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in his office today.

As per information, Verma had demanded a 2% commission from a person for approving pending bills amounting to Rs 67 lakh. The person approached the Vigilance Bureau. As soon as the first installment of Rs 50,000 was handed over to Verma, the vigilance team nabbed him.

The bureau has started an investigation and will also look into the movable and immovable assets of Verma. Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Anjum Ara said the probe was under way.
