Shimla, February 19
Due to one ft. of fresh snowfall recorded on Tuesday, the highways connecting the Shimla apple belt— Shimla Kufri Narkanda National Highway, the Theog Hatkoti Rohru and Theog Chopral state highway are blocked.
According to Police officials, the traffic in Shimla is smooth.
Shimla recorded 5 cm of snowfall mainly around Jhakhoo on Monday night. The roads are clear as snow melted quickly because rainfall followed after.
Local Met office reported that Kufri received 35 cm of fresh snowfall. Since, Monday evening HRTC bus services remained suspended beyond Kufri due to snowfall.
The weather remains cloudy but it is clearing up.
Also, Kalpa had one ft of snowfall. Blocking all the roads Narkanda, Kharapathar and Khirki received more than one ft of fresh snow.
The traffic from Rampur and Kinnaur was diverted via Mashobra, said the policemen.
Traffic to Kufri has been stopped as the road was blocked to Kufri due to snow, said DSP city Pramod Mishra.
The roads will be functional in the afternoon after the weather clears up and the snow is cleared in the morning said Public work department.
