Ganesh festival concludes

KANGRA: The nine-day Ganesh festival concluded in the town on Friday when the idols at different pandals were taken in procession and immersed in the Banner Khud.

The nine-day Ganesh festival concluded in the town on Friday when the idols at different pandals were taken in procession and immersed in the Banner Khud.

The beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesha were taken out in a procession amid vedic hymns and bajans by devotees. The youths were seen dancing in the procession throwing colours and milk on one another. A large number of women and youths participated in the processions.

The slogan ‘ Ganpati Bappa morya’ filled the atmosphere in the town. Fire crackers were burst on the Dharamsala road and at Tehsil Chowk by the devotees. The procession of Baba Balknath temple pandal moved via Jayanti Vihar, Dharamsala Road to Tehsil Chowk before reaching Banner Khud.

The procession of Lord Ganesha of Donga Bazar pandal passed through the main market of the town before reaching Tehsil Chowk on way to Banner Khud.

Fruits, halwa and prasadam was distributed among those who lined up on the route. The Ganesh idols were immersed with religious fervour and gaiety amid slogans.
