Theog MLA and former Himachal Congress president Kuldeep Rathore on Friday said people affected by the Luhri hydel power project must be granted their legitimate rights without delay.
Rathore raised the issue of project-affected families not receiving their rightful dues during a meeting on the Luhri rehabilitation and displacement plan, chaired by DC Anupam Kashyap here.
He said the project management had been assuring the affected people of employment for a long time but had failed to honour its commitments. “I fully justify the anger of the locals. They are not opposed to the project; they only want their rights to be protected,” Rathore said.
Urging representatives of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam to act promptly, he stressed that there should be no delay in extending benefits under the Rehabilitation and Displacement (R&R) scheme.
