Pardeep Thakur, state president of the New Pension Scheme Employees Association, today said the employees would not stop their struggle till the old pension scheme (OPS) is restored. He threatened to intensifying their agitation if their demand was not fulfilled.

Meet demand for votes

The New Pension Scheme Employees Association has over one lakh members, who have decided to support only those who will promise to implement the old pension scheme. — Pardeep Thakur, State president of new pension scheme employees association

Thakur addressed hundreds of employees during a protest at the Gandhi Chowk here. He said the association had been organising rallies in all districts of the state and trying to make its voice reach the government. A delegation of the association had met BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and other ministers, but nothing concrete had been done.

He said the government had repeatedly turned down their request for the old pension scheme. “The time has come to tell every political party in the state that employees can’t be ignored anymore. The association has over 1 lakh members, who have decided to support only those who will promise to implement the old pension scheme,” Thakur said.
