Shimla, November 30

Health Minister Rajiv Saizal has urged the people “who have recovered and developed antibodies” to come forward and help out in Covid wards. “They will not need to do anything. They can just talk to patients to make them feel better,” said the minister after visiting the Covid ward of the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) here today.

In Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bharadwaj inspected the facilities and assured that shortcomings, especially with regard to the shortage of staff, would be addressed soon.

Saizal, who spent more than an hour talking to patients about facilities and care being provided to them, said he did not receive even a single complaint from any patient. “I found everything better than I expected and patients were full of praise for doctors and other staff taking care of them,” he said.

“Health workers fighting the pandemic are no less than soldiers. So, instead of criticising them, people should appreciate them for the services they are rendering while risking their own lives,” he said.
