Himachal boys victorious in kabaddi league final

KANGRA: Himachal Tiger Team boys defeated Haryana in the ‘Chak De India’ kabaddi league match final played at the local municipal stadium here on Sunday evening.

Himachal Tiger Team boys defeated Haryana in the ‘Chak De India’ kabaddi league match final played at the local municipal stadium here on Sunday evening.

The tournament was being organised by the Indian Sports Development Board.

Himachal Tiger Team boys scored 51 points and defeated Haryana by a margin of 29 points in the final. Haryana scored 22 points. Pardeep of Himachal team, a resident of Raipur Soura in Una district, scored the maximum points during the final.

Earlier, in the semifinals, four teams participated and the first semifinal was played between Himachal and Chennai. In the first semifinal, which was a one-sided game, the Himachal Tiger Team scored 71 points and Chennai scored 22 points.

In another semifinal, Haryana beat Gorakhpur by three points when Haryana scored 56 points and Gorakhpur scored 53 points.

Former Chief Minister PK Dhumal was the chief guest. He presented a cheque for Rs 1.71 lakh to the Himachal Tiger Team, Rs 71,000 to Haryana. He gave Rs 31,000 to Gorakhpur team for bagging the third position.
