Himachal CM honours women achievers at state-level function at Nahan
Everest climber, HAS topper among those felicitated
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday honoured several women for their outstanding contributions in different fields during the state-level celebration of International Women’s Day held at Nahan in Sirmaur district.
Among those honoured was Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma for her commendable work in promoting women’s empowerment in the district. Kritika Sharma from Gattadhar village in Sangrah tehsil was felicitated for successfully scaling Mount Everest, while Megha Singh Kanwar from Pajjhota in Rajgarh was honoured for securing the first position in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Examination-2025.
Under the Himachal Pradesh Mahila Vikas Protsahan Yojana, Shanti Jaiswal (Solan), Nirmala Dhiman (Bilaspur), Grihini Swayam Swarojgar Sangh from Indora in Kangra and Nishu Lata (Una) were recognised for their achievements and awarded Rs 1 lakh each.
Financial assistance was also distributed under various welfare schemes. Under Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana, Shikha, Simran Kaur, Shiya and Prem Lata received Rs 60,000 each as marriage assistance, while Mehboob Hasan and Ravi were provided the second instalment of Rs 1 lakh each for house construction.
Under Mukhyamantri Shagun Yojana, Santosh Devi, Shila Devi and Nemo Devi were given Rs 31,000 each. Nasifa, Nitesh and Vidha Devi received Rs 2 lakh each under Vidhva Punarvivah Yojana, while Babita, Sunita Devi and Anita Devi were provided Rs 51,000 each under Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana.
The CM also honoured 24 Anganwadi workers from different districts for their services and awarded them Rs 5,000 each. During the programme, ownership rights certificates were also distributed to 28 families under the Forest Rights Act.
