State Congress president Vinay Kumar on Monday slammed the BJP for skipping a crucial meeting convened on Sunday to discuss the financial situation following the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG).
“It shows the BJP has no concern for the state,” he said, adding that whenever Himachal needed support, the BJP had shirked its responsibility. “When Himachal was fighting for statehood, BJP leaders opposed it. When a massive natural disaster struck the state, the BJP evaded discussion in the Assembly and didn’t support the resolution to approach the Centre,” Kumar said.
“And when a crucial meeting was convened to discuss the state’s future after the suspension of the RDG, BJP leaders abstained,” he added.
Kumar alleged that the BJP had made it a habit to ignore the interests of the state and instead act on directions from its central leadership. Targeting the previous BJP regime, he said it had “looted the state treasury” and left behind a debt of over Rs 75,000 crore and liabilities exceeding Rs 12,000 crore.
