Himachal: Forest fire in Shimla destroys flora, fauna

A massive fire broke out in a forest area near the Badagaon sewage treatment plant in Shimla on Tuesday, causing huge damage to flora and fauna. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident. The fire spread quickly and engulfed several trees and bushes. Locals noticed the blaze and alerted the Fire Department as well as the Forest Department.

Teams of the fire and forest departments rushed to the spot and launched an operation to put out the flames. SDM, Shimla (Rural), Manjeet Sharma said that the exact cause of the fire and the total loss suffered were being ascertained.

With a surge in temperatures, forest fires have become common in the state. On Sunday, a massive fire was also reported in the Dharampur area of Solan district, which caused huge damage to the forest.
