Mandi, October 24

The Himachal Pradesh State Employees Union staged a protest in Mandi town today in support of its demand for the restoration of the old pension scheme.

A large numbers of employees led by Pradeep Thakur, state president of the union, gathered near the entry gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here and held a demonstration.

Thakur said, “Employees are urging the state government to restore the old pension scheme or get ready to face the consequences in the Assembly elections in 2022. The employees are united on this demand. It is a matter of concern that while elected politicians become eligible for pension in a short time, employees despite their long services with the government are being ignored”.

“In the coming days, the employees union will intensify its protest in the state if the government does not consider our demand for the restoration of the old pension scheme in time,” he said.

Dharamsala: Employees of local Government College and various other departments held a protest today demanding the introduction of the old pension scheme for them.

The employees, who were recruited after 2004, are entitled to the contributory pension scheme.

The employees demanded that the old pension be reintroduced for them.

There are about 90,000 state government employees who are not entitled to pension as per the old scheme. Former MP Rajan Sushant, eying the vote bank, has started a campaign demanding the implementation of the old pension scheme for all government employees.
