Nurpur, July 31
Kangra district Congress president and former local MLA Ajay Mahajan, in a statement here today, alleged that the government was going to waste crores of rupees of the taxpayers by organising Pragtisheel Himachal functions in every constituency, beginning from August 1. Terming it a political gimmick just three-four months before the upcoming Assembly elections, he said such events would not save the BJP from its imminent rout in the elections.
Mahajan said the government, which had failed on all fronts during its tenure of five years, was now going to waste a huge amount from the state exchequer in patting its own back.
“The life of common man has become miserable due to skyrocketing prices of every commodity, the unemployment rate has increased and the debt burden is also touching a new high,” he claimed.
He alleged that MGNREGA works in rural areas had stalled and development works in urban areas and gram panchayats had come to halt due to paucity of funds. The government had failed to address the issues of the Pathankot-Mandi highway project affected people in Kangra district.
