The members of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh must protect interests of state and urge special provisions for the state in the Union Budget, Monty Sandhu, director of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), said here today. He said the state was completely neglected in the Budget. He added that it was unfortunate that MPs had maintained silence on the Budget that failed to protect interests of the people.

Criticising the four BJP MPs for their inaction, Sandhu stated while the Centre had side-lined Himachal in the Budget, the state's MPs were still busy in appreciating it. He said the people elected these representatives to protect their concerns, but they have completely failed to address their responsibilities.

He added that Himachal Pradesh urgently requires special financial support to accelerate growth in tourism, infrastructure, healthcare and transport sectors. However, the state has been completely ignored in the Budget. This is a blatant injustice to the people of Himachal and a direct result of the failure of the MPs to advocate the state’s interests, he said.
