Himachal Pradesh University to conduct exams as per MHA guidelines

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) will conduct undergraduate and postgraduate examinations as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). However, the practical examinations and viva of PhD, MPhil, MTech and LLM will be held online in December.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Executive Council (EC), chaired by Vice-Chancellor Sikender Kumar, here today. The council has extended the date for submitting research works of these courses without late fee up to December.

It gave its nod to admit students in the International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL) twice in January and July and remove anomalies in the examination fee of difference courses. The council also gave permission to fill the vacant posts of teachers and non-teaching staff.

However, the Executive Council cancelled the affiliation of the LR Institute of Legal Studies, Ochhghat (Solan), and barred it from making any admissions for the next session. On the other hand, it gave its nod to restore the managing committee of SDVS College, Bhatoli (Una).

The council accepted the recommendations of the Academic Council to start four new departments in defence studies, environment sciences, library science and microbiology and also granted permission for conducting online meetings of the Board of Studies and Research Development Committee.

Meanwhile, the council has approved a golden chance for MCom students to complete the degree. It also approved online practical examinations for UIT, UILS, MCA and MA music classes and the evaluation of answer sheets of UG and PG exams at the college and department levels due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
