Himachal Pradesh witness relief from heat wave as a result of fresh rainfall
As per the State Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected to continue across the state till May 4
The fresh rainfall in many places of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, brought a major relief from the ongoing heat wave across the state, bringing temperatures down by a few notch.
As per the State Meteorological Department, light rainfall was observed in many places of the stat due to which there was a significant fall in maximum temperatures. There was an average drop of 8°C in maximum temperatures across the state.
While the maximum temperature in Shimla fell by 9.5°C, the maximum temperatures in prominent hill stations such as Manali and Dharamshala fell by 6.4°C and 6.1°C from the previous day.
Similarly, Una, which has been recording a maximum temperature above 40°C for the past few days, witnessed a massive dip of 9.4°C in maximum temperatures.
As per the State Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected to continue across the state till May 4.
During this period, minimum temperatures are very likely to fall by 2°C to 4°C while maximum temperatures are very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C in the next three to four days, bringing relief from scorching heat.
The department has also issued an orange weather alert for Shimla, Kullu, Kangra and Mandi districts for April 29, resulting in hailstorms, thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated places of these districts.
Additionally, a yellow weather warning has also been issued for April 29, for Solan, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba and Sirmour districts, resulting in thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places of these districts.
Maximum temperature in Shimla was 18°C, Dharamshala 27°C, Manali 20.8°C, Kangra 29.2°C, Mandi 25.6°C, Solan 20.5°C, Tabo 19.3°C, Sundernagar 24.5°C, Nahan 29.5°C, Bhuntar 24°C and Kalpa 19.5°C.
With 32.6°C minimum temperatures, Una was the hottest place in the state while Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest as it recorded 6.6°C minimum temperature.
