Himachal reports 24 new coronavirus cases

Himachal Pradesh reported 24 new coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours, the state’s latest evening bulletin showed---a development that takes the state's COVID-19 tally to 247.

The state’s new cases include three from Shimla district. All three were people who just returned from Maharashtra. One person who recently came back from Pune in Maharashtra tested positive in Tikkar district in Rohru sub-division in the district. He was kept under quarantine at Chirgaon.

The other two were people who just returned from Mumbai and were quarantined at Deha. They were asymptomatic, officials said.

This takes Shimla’s COVID-19 count to nine.

Dharamsala reported three more coronavirus cases, taking Kangra’s district’s count to 62.A couple and their 7-year-old child, all residents of Gopalpur area near Palampur, tested positive on Tuesday. All three had returned Gandhinagar in Gujarat on May 20.

Two of their co-travellers have already tested positive. The family has been moved to a COVID containment centre.

Hamirpur reported seven cases and Chamba reported two.

Hamirpur has the most cases in the state at 78. Kangra (62), Una (31), Solan (20), Chamba (20), Mandi (11), Bilaspur (11), Shimla (9), Kullu (1), and Simaur (4) make up the rest of Himachal’s count.

The state's COVID-19 death toll stands at five.

Only two districts---Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti---have recorded no coronavirus cases.
