Shimla, July 25

Himachal Road Transport Corporation employees have temporarily withdrawn their agitation following an offer of talks from Transport Minister Bikram Singh.

“The minister has called us for a meeting tomorrow. We are hoping for a positive outcome,” said Umesh Sharma, president of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of HRTC employees.

The employees in Shimla had started a protest after the Shimla Regional Manager was transferred allegedly at the behest of private operators. “We will listen to the government’s reason why he was transferred. If it was done under the pressure of private operators, it is wrong,” he said.

Sharma said the MD, HRTC, had called the employees for a meeting on July 28 for talks on their pending dues like night and overtime allowances. “Hopefully, all issues will be resolved,” said Sharma.
