Himachal to receive snowfall and rain on December 28

The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive snow and rainfall on December 28. As per the State’ Meteorological Department, light snowfall and rainfall is will occur in isolated places of Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti districts, while weather in the rest of the districts will remain dry. However, there will be no large change in minimum and maximum temperatures across the state for the next few days.

A yellow warning for dense fog has been issued for parts of the Balh valley in Mandi and the reservoir area of the Bhakra dam in Bilaspur. The fog is expected to affect visibility during early morning hours until  December 26.

Meanwhile, the weather was mostly dry across the state during the past 24 hours with several places in the higher reaches witnessing light precipitation. Minimum temperatures in most of the places in the state were 3°C to 6°C above normal and were in the range of -3°C to 11°C while maximum temperatures were 2°C to 3°C below normal in higher hills and were normal in rest of the state, ranging between 12°C to 25°C.

Shimla, the state’s capital recorded 9.8°C minimum temperature while Dharamsala recorded 9.6°C. Minimum temperature in Manali and Una was 6.6°C each, Kangra 8°C, Mandi 6.7°C, Solan 7°C, Bilaspur 8°C, Hamirpur 6.5°C, Kalpa 3.6°C, Sundernagar 6.1°C, Bhuntar 5.2°C, Nahan and Kufir 8.2°C each, Paonta Sahib 10°C and Narkanda recorded 5.9°C.

With 25°C maximum temperature, Solan was the hottest place in the town while Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest as it recorded -3.1°C minimum temperature.
