The state government has prioritised social security under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Ashray Yojana, said Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania while addressing a gathering on the occasion of 79th Himachal Day in Hamirpur on Wednesday. He added that the state had achieved unprecedented development in every field during its 78 years of existence.
Pathania said, “Himachal Pradesh was formed as a Chief Commissioner’s state on April 15, 1948. Subsequently, the state’s first Chief Minister, Dr YS Parmar, played a significant role in its transition from a Part-C state to a Union Territory and then to a full-fledged state.” He added that it was also a day to pay homage to freedom fighters and people whose sacrifices led to the creation of Himachal Pradesh as a separate state.
He said that November 1, 1966, was a momentous day when the hilly areas of Punjab were carved out and Himachal Pradesh came into existence. Pathania added that during the past three years, the Congress government had ensured all-round development in the state.
The Speaker said that in the area of social security, the state government had initiated the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Ashray Yojana and provided significant support to orphaned children. The government had released a special relief package from its own resources for the people affected by disasters in 2023 and 2025.
MLAs Suresh Kumar and Captain Ranjit Singh, Chief Minister’s Political Adviser Sunil Sharma Bittu and State Agricultural Marketing Board Chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania were among those present on the occasion.
