A four-room makeshift house was gutted at Idgah Colony in Shimla on Thursday evening. Though no one was injured, household goods and cash were destroyed in the fire.

The fire brigade and locals controlled the blaze before it could spread to other houses in the colony.

Local councillor Saroj Thakur said the affected family was extremely poor. She urged the administration to extend as much help as possible to them. The councillor added that the fire was probably caused by a short-circuit.
