Terming the Global Investors’ Meet as sheer wastage of the public money, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Kuldeep Singh Rathore demanded that the government should issue a White Paper on the event.

Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club today, Rathore said the government spent crores on the event with zero result. He said people had the right to know that how much money from the public exchequer was spent on the meet and how many MoUs were signed with the industrialists. There was no seriousness in the investor meet, Rathore said.

He said no big industrialist attended the summit held at Dharamsala.

BJP workers were invited to the convention which became like a BJP party meet. He said the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi also failed to yield any gain for the state.

Further, Modi announced no package to bail out the hill state from the debt which had increased after the BJP government came to power. Rathore said he had the apprehension that the government was trying to give land to industrialists through the investor meet which the Congress would not allow to happen.

Rathore said the law and order situation was deteriorating day by day. The atrocities on women were on the rise. The drug problem was on the rise and the BJP government had no action plan to tackle the challenges.

He said people of the state were fed up with the government. This was witnessed during the statewide protests the Congress held recently.

A large number of people supported the Congress at the district-level protests organised against the slowdown and recession in economy with the aim to save the Himachal Pradesh. He alleged that the unemployment had increased in the state and the government had failed on all fronts.

Rathore’s charges

  • The government spent crores on the event with zero result
  • People  have the right to know that how much money from the public exchequer was spent on the meet
  • How many MoUs were signed with industrialists
  • There was no seriousness in the investor meet
  • People are fed up with the BJP government
