HPTU signs MoU with Italian varsity

To impart quality education and technical training to its students Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of European Tourism (UET) here on Thursday. The MoU was signed by Prof SP Bansal, Vice-Chancellor, of HPTU and president and founder of UET Ambrosecchio Marina who was here to visit the technical university on the request sent by it.

The university was without any regular head for the last few years and needed upgradation to meet the latest challenges being faced by students passing out from here.

Speaking on the occasion, Marina said tourism was growing globally and it needed thousands of trained people to handle the business. She said it was the fastest growing industry in Europe and the Indian subcontinent but it was hard to find skilled people to run the industry. She said a lot of research and innovation would be needed to meet the challenges globally. Joining hands with the HPTU would open new vistas for the mutual growth of both universities. UET would provide every support required by the HPTU in the field of research, education and student exchange, she added.

Bansal said with the collaboration of international university UET, students of the university would get exposure to international standards in various fields like tourism, international business, languages and cultures. He said it would also open opportunities for improvement in technical education, technical research and growth of tourism in the country and specifically in Himachal Pradesh. One student of the university would be give free training each year by the Italian university, he added.
