To facilitate ease of compliance and to avoid inconvenience to beneficiaries, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has decided to provide online document submission facilities to pensioners as well as the families of pensioners. Under this initiative, pensioners will be able to upload certificates digitally through the Jeevan Pramaan Portal, an Aadhaar-based biometric authentication service, thus ending the need to visit the university office.

Gian Sagar Negi, Registrar, HPU, said that as per the existing rules of the university, every pensioner of the university was required to submit a Life Certificate in November each year for continued disbursement of pension. “To ensure the uninterrupted credit of pension, pensioners are encouraged to utilise the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) facility through the Jeevan Pramaan Portal. Pensioners can generate the DLCs through face authentication by downloading the Jeevan Pramaan Face App on any Android smartphone,” Negi said.

The pensioners are required to update their Aadhaar Number which is linked to their pension account, mobile number for OTP and SMS confirmation along with Pension Payment Order (PPO) Number, Account Number and Disbursing Agency name.

“Once the DLC is generated, a Pramaan ID will be sent to the applicants mobile number. Pensioners will also be able to verify the status or download the digital copy at any time through the Jeevan Pramaan login page,” he added. “While pensioners above the age of 80 will be allowed to submit the certificate from October 1 onwards to avoid year-end rush regular pensioners must submit it in November every year,” he said.

“The Digital Life Certificate is an add-on facility to the existing way of submission of Life Certificate and verification by biometrics through Jeevan Pramaan will be valid for one year. While digital submission is preferred, the traditional method of submitting a physical Life Certificate remains available for those unable to use digital tools. The form can be downloaded from the university’s official website or collected from the pension cell. However, if choosing physical submission, the certificate must be filled and signed in by the pensioner and attested by the designated officer of the university,” Negi said.
