In a remarkable feat, Vandna, a research scholar at the Department of Biosciences, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, has been selected to present her research at Elsevier’s Green and Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Germany. Her research focuses on nanopesticide-based strategies to control major major wheat rust diseases, contributing to sustainable agricultural solutions.
Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, HPU, said the department had once again demonstrated its research excellence by securing the prestigious international travel support (ITS) grant from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). “This marks the second consecutive ANRF grant awarded to the department’s Plant Physiology and Biochemistry Laboratory,” he added.
The laboratory functions under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr Sveta Thakur. Earlier, another research scholar from the same lab, Riya Chandel, was also awarded an ANRF grant to present her research at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The laboratory’s growing international recognition is further reflected in Dr Thakur’s appointment as Associate Editor of the international journal ‘Frontiers in Systems Biology’, he added.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that such achievements reflected the strong research ecosystem being developed at the HPU.
