According to a complaint filed by Registrar Gian Sagar Negi, Dr Vijay Singh, currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration, was appointed on September 28, 2024, following a duly conducted recruitment process. He submitted his academic documents to the university on February 18, 2025, as part of official record verification.

The university forwarded the documents to the concerned School Education Board for authentication. During scrutiny, the Board reportedly flagged discrepancies in the Class XII certificate submitted by the faculty member. On closer examination, the certificate was found to be fake.

Registrar Negi said multiple irregularities surfaced in the senior secondary certificate, prompting the university to send the documents again for re-verification. The professor was asked to produce original certificates, but he allegedly resubmitted downloaded copies instead of authentic originals.

“It is unclear how he managed to pursue higher education with a forged Class XII certificate,” the Registrar said, raising serious concerns over the authenticity of his academic trajectory.

Following confirmation of forgery, the university approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and an investigation is underway.

The university has also issued a show-cause notice to the accused. The matter will be placed before the Executive Council for approval of termination. His services will be discontinued once the council grants its nod.
