I-T Department holds awareness workshop on TDS provisions

An awareness workshop was organised by the Income Tax (I-T) Department, Palampur, here in the Municipal Council Hall yesterday. The workshop was held to sensitise officials and employees of different government departments on the provisions of the Tax Deduction at Source (TDS). Kushal Kumar, Income Tax Officer (ITO) presided over the workshop.

The ITO informed the participants that provisions of the new Income Tax Act 2025 enacted by the parliament were being enforced on April 1st in the coming financial year. He sensitised them about the TDS provisions under the new IT act. He said that if any correction or demand was to be filed till the return of the 3rd quarter of the financial year 2023-24 it could be done only until March 31, 2026.

The ITO advised the government officers and employees to check their tax demands and ensure that there was no demand left to be corrected before the last date, March 31. He exhorted them to compile provisions of the TDS and the due payment should be made on time so that extra interest amount could be avoided. Tax related questions were also asked by the participants of the workshop which were answered by IT official.
