Illegal structures razed in Subathu

SOLAN: Two unauthorised structures were razed in the Subathu Cantonment on the second day of the demolition drive which passed off peacefully on Monday.

Two unauthorised structures were razed in the Subathu Cantonment on the second day of the demolition drive which passed off peacefully on Monday.

These structures comprised unauthorised rooms, staircase, superstructures, including tinned roofs among other things, which were constructed without permission.

Executive Officer, Subathu, Devashu Chawdhary, said: “Six structures have been demolished in the two-day drive till now and total 14 structures comprising encroachments as well as unauthorised constructions, would be razed in the first phase.”

He said the number of such unauthorised structures was more, but some cases were before the court. Notices were served to all prior to this demolition drive.

A heavy posse of police was deployed to ensure that the demolition was undertaken peacefully and ambulance and fire services were also kept ready to deal with any eventuality.

15 structures razed in Nahan

In another case, the staff of the Nahan MC razed 15 structures today in the demolition drive, which kick-started last Monday.

Executive Officer, Nahan, MC, said about 60 structures have been razed so far and they were hopeful of completing the demolition in a stipulated time. He said: “Time has been given to some people to shift their household articles to other places in view of the demolition.”

About 142 unauthorised structures and encroachments were supposed to be demolished in this drive in Nahan town, which was being undertaken on High Court directions.
