In Nurpur, disability assessment camp on December 13
The Kangra district Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation, Government of India, Mohali, is set to organise a disability assessment camp at Bachat Bhawan, Nurpur on December 13 from 11 am to 3 pm. The camp is being organised to help the disabled and the elderly. According to Nurpur SDM Gursimar Singh, during the camp, evaluation will be done for tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches, walking sticks and other assistive devices and artificial limbs.
He said, to get free assistive devices for physically challenged persons with 40 percent or more disability, a Unique Disability card, low-income certificate (less than Rs 22,500 per month) and a passport size photograph was required; whereas, for senior citizen beneficiaries, senior citizen cards, income certificates (less than Rs 15,000 per month) and address proofs would be required.
During the second phase, free assistive devices would be provided to eligible disabled persons and senior citizens, the SDM added.
