Solan, October 18

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today sought votes for the Pachhad candidate by invoking PM Narendra Modi’s development initiatives during poll rallies at Rajgarh and Sarahan. He elaborated on Modi’s rising global stature and said he had given a strong leadership to the nation.

On his second visit to the constituency, Thakur said he had focused on Himachal after he took over as the CM while listing his initiatives like CM Helpline and Janmanch which, he claimed, had benefited the common man. Attacking the Congress, he asked the party as to why it had not initiated such moves during its tenure.

He said the BJP had won this seat for two consecutive terms and urged people to support the party candidate again. He specially urged the women to support Reena Kashyap and ensure her victory with a huge margin. The MP hailed from this area and so should be the MLA, he said.

While the CM elaborated on his endeavours like investors’ meet, he took the Congress to task for opposing it. He said being a byelection, these polls were different and the result would be remembered for long.

He attacked Congress candidate Gangu Ram Musafir, who had been a seven-time MLA, and said wherever he went people were complaining about shortage of power and water besides bad roads, which reflected poorly on his work. He said only one party had ruled for more than 50 years and still it was bereft of development. He said the Congress was on the verge of collapse, while urging voters to work for the victory of the BJPcandidate.
